Safety Hazards In Plastic Food Packaging Bags

- Nov 11, 2019-

When it comes into contact with food, harmful substances may migrate to the food.

Plastic is a compound obtained by covalent bonding of a large number of small molecule units, wherein a polymer composed entirely of a polymer is called a resin, and after adding an additive, it is a plastic. Generally, plastic packaging bags are divided into two categories according to their use: one is a food-grade packaging bag made of polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and melamine, which is non-toxic and can be used for packaging. Food; a non-food grade packaging bag, a plastic bag made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), toxic, can not be used as a food packaging bag, and processed with recycled waste plastic products in various colors. Recycled plastic bags cannot be used as food packaging bags.

The main cause of food safety problems is the use of non-food grade plastic bags for food packaging. The main problems are:

1. Production of raw materials, plastic bags must be processed by high-temperature melting. Many enterprises will add some waste plastics to reduce costs, and even add some inferior pigments. These pigments may contain heavy metals such as lead and cadmium, which reduce plastics. The safety of the bag.

 2. Additives are used in the production process. Some plasticizers, stabilizers, flame retardants and other substances may be added in the production process of plastic bags. If they are absorbed by the human body, they are not good for health.

3. Using ink, ink may be used to paint some characters and patterns on the plastic bag. There may be harmful components such as benzene in the ink. If these substances contaminate the food, it will cause certain damage to the body.
